WALKS WILL GET AFTER YA, gotta throw strikes

and an occasional called strike, with something off-speed to boot. In other words-control, control and ability to mix it up. 4 batters-two walks and two hits, and its 3-0. I think we all understand why Bree started last night. Mazz is just in a funk right now and can't get out of it, and I don't think she will until she improves her control. She has unlimited natural ability, but needs that control. Who knows, she may be hurt. She is a veteran though and she will overcome this. Believe! Go Hokies, Go Mazz. We are behind you.

. . . more pitches/batter faced. That's out of several hundred. This is not a new problem. She's always pitched on the edge. She may 'overcome' it but there's little sign that the coaching staff has found anything to actually get her throwing more strikes. The evidence is her 'waste' pitches. When she does get ahead she often still ends up with a high pitch count as she does not seem to be able to throw one ball off the plate. Her misses are usually big misses.

has done that recently and really only thrown one bad pitch. Then settles down and does well. Without her the team would not be where they are.
