4. Virginia Tech downs Georgia. Having dropped two games last weekend, Virginia Tech was hoping for a bounceback performance at the Georgia Classic. The No. 24 Hokies secured an impressive win by beating No. 11 Georgia 9-3. Emma Mazzarone went the distance for Virginia Tech, allowing three runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and three walks. After giving up two runs in the 1st inning, Mazzarone didn’t allow another run until the 7th.
Nora Abromavage got Virginia Tech’s offense started early, hitting a two-run home run in the 1st inning. The Hokies added two runs in the 2nd and broke the game open with a four-run 4th. Abromavage was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Kylie Aldridge was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Was awesome to see the offensive contributions come from so many different spots of the lineup, and Mazz's ability to go the full distance will help our team a ton in the long run.
It feels like we're playing with the house's money this afternoon and all the pressure is on Georgia to avoid getting swept. Hopefully our bats can stay hot early and we grab another win before the trip home.
