Jen Pawol, who played softball at Holstra from 1996-1998, is scheduled to become the first woman to umpire a Major League Baseball game this weekend when she umpires the series between the Braves and the Marlins in Atlanta. She’ll work the bases during Saturday’s doubleheader and be behind the plate for Sunday’s finale. Pawol was a three-time all-conference catcher who hit .332 for her career. She played in 161 games for Hofstra and posted career totals of 169 hits, 109 runs scored, 102 runs batted in, 15 home runs, 22 stolen bases and 33 walks with a .332 career batting average.
