Today's Softball American Bracketology has the Hokies going to Arkansas
Which is the overall #11 seed. UVA is slotted in the Tennessee Region, Clemson is in the Alabama region. Louisville (RPI #50, #29 SOS) is in the first four out - I don't see them making it since they didn't even qualify for the ACC tournament.
Softball America's last four hosts spots are
13. Alabama
14. Florida State
15. Louisiana
16. Texas A&M
With this added comment: "There aren’t many other teams that are on the hosting bubble. Virginia Tech could justify earning a spot if the Hokies win the ACC Tournament. Baylor has the metrics especially if the Bears make a run in Oklahoma City at the Big 12 Tournament."
Just win, baby!

This is from a poster on a national message board who historically has been pretty good on the teams that end up receiving bids. He has the Hokies heading to Georgia but added this note:
"IMO neither Alabama nor FSU has a season resume’ worthy of hosting. But using the committee criteria, there are no non-host teams to put ahead of them. Washington laid an egg with their chance. Miss St is more deserving but the combination of #20 RPI and #136 OOC SOS (worst among the top 40 teams) means no. Va Tech could move in with a strong ACC tourney."

Dangerous city. I live just south in MS and there are multiple murders daily. Includes Beale Street.

Once it's over 400 miles, it really doesn't matter to the committee where they send you since you have to get on a plane.
I believe the only two bussing options for VT is Tennessee and Georgia. Tennessee is supposedly the only option for UVA to bus and VT played at Georgia last year and earlier this year.
If VT doesn't host, I expect to have to fly somewhere. Just my two cents.

because I was thinking that Arkansas was a lot higher than Alabama (that may be true for the Softball America bracketology but they are together in the RPI rankings). Those 2 teams appear to be interchangeable on a quality basis. Alabama is a much better pitching team but Arkansas is a better hitting team.
