Remember it's never as bad as it seems or as good as it looks. This is
a pretty young team that will have to learn how to show up each day and compete. Lot of talented teams you have to play. I think they will be fine, just pick up a few bumps and brusies along the way. It will build character in the end.

Yes and at one point the tv announcers seemed surprised that VT had
5 freshmen in the lineup. Of course one of them replaced Casteen, but we really do have a very young team. I'm a bit more disappointed in the coaching for not seizing the opportunity of the lead off base runner in the sixth inning of the first game. We will lose more games this year from that exact situation just like last year if we don't correct it. I like Pete and it seems as though he can recruit and develop players but his game strategy needs tweaking.

Nine freshmen and three transfers are in the mix.
Lots to learn and adjust.
Both teams that beat VT today will be in the tournament.
They will be fine.

never have an off day, suffer no long or short term injuries? They started out so hot maybe the team (and some fans) lost their edge. Saturday may be the result of not coping well with incredible early season success. Saturday may be just what the team needed to bring back an edge that got slightly dulled.

It’s two games to teams that will make the post-season. They will be fine.

I do however believe pitching is a significant concern. Really need (and hope) Lemley figures things out…

Mentality that causes people to freak out over every L in other sports where it’s nearly impossible to go unbeaten or to even get close (Oklahoma has been a unicorn in this sport for a few years)
I think the discussion about hoping we aren’t long term hurting (Castine) or scarred psychologically (Lemley) can have validity BUT it can also be premature hand-wringing
These 5 game in 3 days events are taxing on pitchers and I’d also say young players too (yes they play tons in travel ball BUT this is a different beast of a level)
We’re in a good spot if we TCB vs Illinois State today

Because we’d won vs Iowa St & Boise.
Didn’t freak out about LSU & Iowa for ladies bball. The men’s freak out games were at FSU, Miami & ND as I watched our PG throw away our season possession by possession
For baseball and softball it’s later in the season if we lose one that hurts our postseason 😎😂
