Pitching
Mazzarone was only pitcher who did not give up runs. She is treated as the #2. Why wasn’t she used at all today? Lemley & Kleiman pitched all 3 days.

Not because she was great. She issued several walks. Lemley pitched against 1 batter on Saturday.
You could ask about Grizzard as well.....

did not score on her. I thought he may go to her.
I thought Coach D'Amour struggled today. Among some other items that have already been discussed, I did not understand subbing for Yeager. Maybe I missed something on that.

for Anni (prior to the bases loaded batting out of order challenge that ended the inning), and upon Anni’s re-entry, Mazz was officially “burned” and not eligible to play in any capacity. Essentially, CP chose to use her offensively in a bases-loaded situation when we were down by 3 (makes sense). Essentially, the only way to keep her in the game would have been to have her play defense that next inning and to pull Anni.
Knew he needed a big hit. Obviously didn’t expect the resulting pitching plan to surrender runs. A calculated risk for sure. Sad that he didn’t get to see what the offensive side of that calculation could have revealed

But Mazz never actually entered the game. There was never a pitch to her.
UVA decided to call for an illegal sub, so I can’t see how she was “burned.” It was like that whole sequence never happened. Mazz wasn’t called “out,” the runner at first (Blackwell?) was. It seems like if Mazz was officially burned for that, UVA got a helluva good deal on the challenge.

Once Mazz is reported to the umpire, the lineup change is official. Doesn’t matter what happens after that.
