in consistent to say the least. He would be calling a pretty consistent zone ..then just fall off for 1/2 inning. As a coach all i ask is that blue be consistent. Whatever your calling stick with it, so we know what/where to attack and can make offensive adjustments as well. Example..the stanford lead off hitter. Exact pitch -Rang her up 1st and last at bat. Middle at bat he called a definite K a ball and she hits HR on next pitch. The one called a ball was better than the last he called a strike. He definitely had his issues.

1st of 3rd base side can't tell how inside or outside pitches really are. People behind the umpire can't see how high or low the pitches there. There are a lot of assumptions when people grown about pitches when they can't truly see certain aspects of a pitch from where they sit.

stays within the catcher's shoulders, basically not moving much at all, it's very likely a strike. Likely! Still you have to know if the catcher is set-up inside or outside on the plate. Likely is the key word.

To me, as much as I THINK I know if a ump made a bad call...I KNOW that I don't have any angle that be definitive unless I am in center field with glasses on.. A 2nd baseman or shortstop might...A pitcher and catcher likely will

And it’s hard for people behind the plate to get a sense of high/low as well. There were some questionable calls from TV angle but it’s very hard to see exactly where the ball crosses the plate. So, we end up judging on where it hits the mit. Tonight I thought the ?? ones went both ways. Emma got a tough call on the gal that homered but maybe got a break on the last batter.
