I don't claim to be a "world class softball coach", however, I was a head coach for eight years, the majority of which was for an (in-state) elite travel team. And yes my daughter pitched and played on the team. I'll be the first one to admit that the parents as well as the fans can be "over the top"! I don't want to be one of those, but I can't help but vent and at this point, I qualify as a fan and an alumnus of Virginia Tech. With that being said; the weather was awful, so you adjust, you out-coach and you play with a wet ball (protecting and replacing it at nauseum). Some pitchers "cannot" throw a wet and dirty ball, so swap within the framework of the rules at nauseum as well. That was Pete's worst coached game at Virginia Tech......period, I'll stop, because I post infrequently and my keyboard is on fire! Bottomline, both teams were robbed by the weather, we were robbed by the weather as well as by our coaches! Hope the ladies get to host, as they absolutely, positively deserve it! Disclaimer: Maybe the staff already knew that we're hosting, if so the coaching might get a "get out-ta jail free card" (and i say that with great hesitation), because I doubt any hosting sites have been determined yet.
