I gotta say... I really enjoy watching women's softball...
Like many VT fans, I became hooked on VT sports via football during our rise in the 1990's / 2000's and 2010's. It had a unique "attachment" that is very hard to get with other sports. Men's and women's basketball are a close 2nd for me, especially when we have tourney worthy teams, but football always reigned supreme.
However, those revenue sports have soured me quite a bit, as with others, due to the transfer portal, commercialism, NIL and consolidation of power to select conferences. I feel more "emotionally disconnected" from the players and the eventual outcome of the game.
However, women's softball provides a pretty "pure" entertainment and fills a nice void.
I'm glad I stumbled upon some espn3 VT broadcasts several years ago, and I think a lot of VT fans who don't currently watch softball would be pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and "addictive" it can be... especially as our team is capable of beating anyone on any given day. It's fun to watch the athletic skills and nail-biting thrills of late innings. The games are fast-paced and don't take too long, and it's represented by high character students with a love for the game.

Concur. Currently, football and MBB players only care about the money.
