Here's the thing. Back before Whit hired Pete D'Amour ....

Whit had fired Scot Thomas, but he hadn't hired Pete yet. Whit DM'd me on Twitter on May 23, 2018, and asked me, "What are the thoughts of your subscribers on softball? And how do you feel about it? Scot is a good guy. Just seemed to lose his 🔥 for the job and recruiting. I feel as though we have the third best job in the ACC behind Florida State in North Carolina. Hope you are well." I asked for his email address and sent him an email response .... which is sadly not accessible on GMail due to a big email change we made about 4-5 years ago. It's archived somewhere. but I can't get to it on my home computer (where I am now) and might not be able to get to it at all. I remember what I said, though. I told him Tech fans were very passionate about softball. By the time Whit got here, the Angela Tincher era was 6 years in the rearview mirror, so it wasn't the same, but I told him that she was one of the most beloved athletes in Virginia Tech history, and that softball at VT was a sleeping giant. There was a simmering interest there that would return in full force at the first sign of success, due to the seeds planted while Tincher was here. I encouraged him to go for it with the new hire. I don't know if my email influenced his thinking on Pete's hire, which was announced 8 days later (May 31, 2018). But I turned out to be right. VT's fan base was indeed a sleeping giant on softball. The softball fan base deserves better.

Yeah, ask Oklahoma State Cowgirls! Same exact thing, now they are playing

OSU was in Clearwater. They are 'playing better' because . . .

What is overlooked is that of the top 30 RPI we have the lowest # of Home

Again, another scheduling issue. I understand weather concerns but . .

but the ticket revenue doesn't get funneled back to the SB team.

Is that a bad thing? What the market will bear?

Suppose everyone felt that way?

Every(darn)thing doesn't have to be done with the same rules & limitations.
