Hard to know what Head Coaches make in addition to salary. Bonuses: Coach of the year, ACC Championship, Regional Championship, WCWS bonus, retention bonus, camp income, personal appearances, product endorsement, (rare for a minor sport coach) could be upward to an extra 100k if all 'incentives' are met and camps are sold out. Rittman probably hit one of these bonuses this past season. Pretty sure last year the Hokie Coach hit 3. Regarding Alford, pretty sure with his bellyaching, he is lobbying for an $EC invite.
