Yea . . . you don't understand pitching at all but that's OK.

Pitching is based on motor memory ingrained as a result of thousand of hours of practice. Mazz (or any other pitcher) can't simply slow it down little bit and become more accurate as some have suggested. It just doesn't work that way. According to a statistic quoted by an announcer on Friday only 14 D1 pitchers this season average more pitches per batter faced. It's amazing with that stat she's as successful as she is. She simply lacks consistent mechanics resulting in her being 'effectively wild' until she's not. It's highly unlikely at this point in her career that's going to change. She's a good pitcher but she comes with a high pitch count and the risk of untimely walks built in. BTW many of those 'wild pitches' are not necessarily "bad" pitches.
