Not saying it's invalid but more accurate

Last year when Pickens was hitting those high numbers an SI reporter was very skeptical on social media and caused a mini firestorm which brought up said technology. The UT media team was upset because the reporter was accusing that it was home cooking and the home gun was faster then elsewhere when Pickens was tracked throwing 77 and 78 on similar systems at Texas, UGA and OU on the road. ** Edited by VTsportscaster at 3/3/2026, 9:03:25 AM

Just saw an article about Tenn's K Pickens throwing 78.2 mph in a game, ...

That was the first and then hit 79.4 in Supers

Understand that there is really no absolute standard for clocking . . .

Both of Pickens pitches were measured by Yackertech

Yep. So comparing Picken's numbers to those measured other ways is invalid.

How fast was Bahl clocked in that game?**
MidloHokie 03/03/26 06:34 AM ET
Honestly we weren't paying attention to Bahl's #s
VTsportscaster 03/03/26 08:54 AM ET
That's a great question for comparisons sake. Not sure on answer though**

Mazz said she'd been clocked in low to mid 70s

I am sure that's right. Control is worth more than speed. Same with golf.
