Different guns pick up the ball at different times and use different algos to 'average' the speed. Did Pickens throw 78+ . . . . seems so at least once. Same thing with Mazz throwing 75. Might have been clocked that fast but neither are approaching those speeds on regular basis. And remember, Cat Osterman regarded by many as the best pitcher ever, consistently threw 63 to 65.
