That situation is pretty simple, vis-a-vis Tech Sideline

1.) We (Chip and I) have no idea what's going on. 2.) No one will answer questions about it privately. Hence, #1. And frankly, at this point, given that no one will talk about it privately, I don't *want* to know what's going on. I'm smart enough to know when a situation needs to be left alone. 3.) Given #2, Pete sure as hell won't answer questions about it publicly. 4.) Given #2 and #3, we're not going to ask Pete about it publicly. We already know that's a dead end, so we're not going to be jerks and press him about it publicly, just so you can feel better about how we cover the sport. 5.) Maybe Mark Berman will ask him about it sometime, because Berman likes asking the tough questions, even if he knows he won't get an answer. My advice: sit and wait. Maybe we'll know someday what's going on, maybe we won't. If you encounter any VT Softball personnel (including Pete D'Amour and/or Whit Babcock) privately, feel free to ask them, but no one will tell you anything. So we sit and wait.
