We had several players that were being used as the DP I think two years ago. Someone would get installed in the lineup until they had a poorer game, and the next candidate would be in the lineup for however long that player hit. This isn't a gripe. It just means we had and WILL HAVE several candidates for DP, and not all of them are going to be happy. Right now candiates to DP: - Aldridge - Yeager when Aldridge is behind the plate - Mazzarone - Leggette - Martin Others won't DP because they will be needed to potentially pinch-hit - like Jayden Jones or Nora Abramovage Next year, we lose the three seniors from the field/batting lineup: Bre Peck, Cori McMillan, and Rachel Castine (redshirt year?). So, yes, it will be interesting to see who can rise to replace OFs in the lineup. Nora Abromavage, Trinity Martin, Charlotte Moore, and newcomer Jordan Bishop are OFs, but Legette would be a viable choice depending on the others. An overall look at the upcoming roster before anything happens in the off-season: The list of Infielders next year - 8-ish Michelle Chatfield - 1st (junior next year) Jayden Jones - 2nd (sophomore) Annika Rohs - SS (junior) Jordan Lynch - 3rd (sophomore) Emily Legette - junior MJ Abernathy - r-freshman or sophomore Gabi Mizelle - true freshman SS Lily Pallante - true freshman SS Odds are Lynch, Rohs, and Chatfield are locked into their starting roles for the next 2-3 more years. So, who moves into 2nd? Does anyone force a move like Lynch provided the impetus for Peck to go the outfield. Outfielders - 4-5 before moving anyone to the OF Lyla Blackwell - junior Trinity Martin - senior Sara McNelly - junior - used as a punchrunner Charlotte Moore - r-freshman - She is probably being overlooked due to being redshirted Jordan Bishop - true freshman - It will be interesting to see who become candidates to replace Peck and McMillan, and even push Blackwell. This offseason is going to be really interesting, with the potential for transfers coming in as well.
