and am holding the position that regular seasons have been devalued in pretty much every sport. eg, NBA regular season is really just a preseason for the playoffs, MLB it used to be a big deal to win the pennant, I mean, after all you just played 162 games with all the ups and down. Part of this was thinking about our MBB tourney win, great, great stuff but doesn't really make VT the best team in the ACC, likewise, VT softball had a short run in the tourney but it doesn't really mean much, I'm kind of noticing the polls agree with that also, I don't think the MBB would have made the tourney w/o the auto bid, so yeah, OK, FSU might have been looking forward to the WCWS instead of the game in front of them, happens. But this is lazy poll taking, well, yeah, FSU, Bama, UT etc. all dropped below 16 which really is not accurate. (I'm not sure how to consolidate w/my thought that VT "at least" is the 16 team now) Same with VT, suppose we had lost, we had a really good season smacking FSU around, stopping UT in their home stadium etc. etc. Somethings wrong when five games outweigh the 40 or 50 already played.
