Agreed. however, Castine's good hitting was a small sample size

The beginning of the season is when numbers are often inflated until they normalize over a small sample size. There should have been no expectations that she would hit .500 with grand slams left and right :). That is the impression we were left with when she was hurt. There was an expectation that she would be dangerous this year....not grand slams...but probably a dangerous bat. If there is anyone who can rebound and likely get to .280 to .300, it would be here. Rohs is a .220 career hitter after two years worth of ABs. Odds of her becoming a .280 to .300 hitter next year? Low. By her senior year when she is stronger? Maybe. But even then she would likely be no better than a .250 to .280 career hitter only if she really improved. Blackwell. Does she have the size/strength to elevate her average? Green was bigger than she is Blackwell was not pulled beause she could not hit. She lost the starting job because Trinity Martin started to hit. There was a stretch were Martin was hitting .240... The last 9 regular season/ACC tournament games, Martin hit .333

Next Year's Offense May Take a Hit

Legette 1B, Chatfield RF is what we may see
hokiepro 05/18/25 11:10 PM ET
I thought the same about Legette and Chatfield, but I think we lost a lot
vatechcowpatty 05/19/25 05:29 AM ET
Yeah. Hard to know if Legette looked a little more shaky
hokiepro 05/19/25 05:55 AM ET
I think between Rohs, Blackwell, and Castine, one of them has to learn to

Agreed. however, Castine's good hitting was a small sample size
VAHokie89 05/18/25 10:03 PM ET
Well, pulled because Martin hit better. There was a stretch when I couldnt
vatechcowpatty 05/18/25 10:12 PM ET
Blackwell had a couple nice hits in her limited ABs later in season

Agree with your post so far as pitching is concerned. The off-season and

Isn’t Rachel a senior?**
ColWilliamFleming 05/18/25 10:19 PM ET
Yes, but she’s coming back.
RJHokie 05/18/25 10:21 PM ET
Rohs needs to stay at SS unless someone beats her out.
Hokie_Forester 05/18/25 09:36 PM ET
Her "pretty decent" hitting early in the season was when numbers

Having an elite fielding SS is more valuable
hokiepro 05/20/25 08:24 PM ET
Agree. I hope her hitting gets much better.
RJHokie 05/18/25 09:39 PM ET
She would have hit .280 the rest of her career just to be a .250 hitter
VAHokie89 05/18/25 09:54 PM ET
Not worried about career stats as opposed to what she can accomplish
RJHokie 05/18/25 10:00 PM ET
Rohs defense is much better than Castine’s at SS.
RJHokie 05/18/25 09:21 PM ET
Not SO much better
VAHokie89 05/18/25 09:55 PM ET
I happen to think Rohs's SS defense IS MUCH better than Castine's. I think

ancient alien 2018 05/18/25 09:46 PM ET
I think she can improve.
RJHokie 05/18/25 09:49 PM ET
Right now after two seasons, she is essentially a .220 hitter

My logic was that Rohs, for example, would have to hit
VAHokie89 05/19/25 12:11 AM ET
No. If she hits 0.280 next year, then she's a 0.280 hitter for next year.

Hopefully we can hold onto Aldridge. Worried she may go elsewhere if Zoe
