Primary factors are:
Duke: #9 SOS and 6 top 25 wins/18 top 50 wins
Stanford: #20 SOS and a solid 32-9 record.
VT: great record of 37-7 but #50 SOS and only 4 top 25 wins (UVa dropped out so lost their 2 wins in this category) and 3 bad losses
