The mistake was ump calling a dead ball and stopping play on a fair ball
Apparently since ball was called dead before an out was secured the runnners are rewarded a base IF the dead ball call was in error which replay showed it was
Terrible rule interpretation but that’s how it was explained by Gray Robertson on Softball America
