They probably viewed pinch hitting as an attempt to score more. When in
reality it's just give rarely used players a shot. That's one thing I don't like about the run rule. You play an 8-run lead the same as a 1-run lead if you have a chance to shorten the game. Without the run rule, an 8-run lead would allow you to use more players. Fortunately, we got ahead by more than 8 and coach started to get others involved.
