The Knoxville MSA population is 900k. The population of the

Roanoke MSA (which is being a bit generous because VT is not in Roanoke, it's 35 miles away) is 313k. So, I would think the hotel capacity of the Knoxville area is much greater than the VT area. I would have thought that VT would have found a way to make it work. So, I sort of dismissed the concerns. But, a LOT of people close to our program expressed concerns that hotel capacity could be a problem. They didn't seem to think that was ridiculous. So, I felt I had to give those views some credence. And I assume you can't put a team across multiple hotels to take advantage of rooms here and there. Each team has to be in the same hotel. And that requires a block. If our admin has any indication that the hotel issue was a problem, I hope they will think about this. People book graduation rooms many many months in advance. Maybe some of the people who thought this was going to be a problem will weigh in. ** Edited by nkhooch at 5/16/2025, 1:50:50 AM
