A Cap of 19 would severely limit VT’s chances of moving.
I was very confident it the cap was 22 or more. Fairly confident at 20. But 19 means only three for the SEC and one for the big ten. Scary

Yeah like from 5% to 1%. The cap is probably a good thing for VT

Limits everone's chances,
Right? Isn't there a rule a school must be independent before joining a conference?

It appears that the legislation codifies
the competitive advantage that the BIG and SEC have over the ACC and B12 - like in perpetuity. If the BIG and SEC actually go to 19, there will not be any chairs left for any school to move up the ladder unless they find the money to compete at those levels outside of the media contracts. That means schools like Purdue, Rutgers, Mississippi State and others get the big bucks just by luck of the draw. For the first time in all of this mess, I know advocate for a new conference with the "best of the rest" of the ACC and B12, with several schools currently in those conferences to be left out. However, there are provisions to keep PE out of the super league business, and I wonder if that includes forming a new conference.
