But UVa had a 11-win football team in what turned out to be a good ACC. Granted they had one of the weaker schedules in the ACC, but still an impressive feat. And Duke played a tough schedule it turned out because Illinois, Tulane, UConn, UVa and GT all turned out to be good teams this year. After saying all this, I feel like I need to vomit.

What would the Hoo’s record have been had they played the entirety of Tech’s schedule? Tech’s opponents had a combined .639 winning percentage making our schedule the toughest in the conference along with playing 2 10-win, 3 9-win, 2 8-win, 2 7-win teams of which 4 were ranked top 25 at the end of regular season. UVa’s opponents had a .493 winning percentage and one of the easiest schedules of the ACC schools with only 3 8-win teams and 2 7-win teams with no one with 9 or more wins and no teams finishing in the top 25 regular season and they lost to one 8-win team (Wake) and loss to one other 7-win team (NCSU). I think if UVa had Tech’s schedule, they would have gone 7-5 with losses to Vandy, Miami, NC State (who they lost to anyway), Wake (who they lost to anyway) and probably GT. But watching them this year and their luck, they may have stolen one or 2 of those to go as good as 9-3. Still impressive for a football program who have had only 5 winning seasons in the last 20-years and within what turned out to be a pretty good ACC. Don’t fret though…. Tech is about to take back our rightful place after many crappy years. BTW our crappy years since 2016 had almost as many winning seasons as UVa’s last 20 for comparison. We had 14 winning seasons over the last 20 years. But I’ll tip my hat to them this year.

they win every game next year until our game. It will help our SOS. :-) Seriously, you want to recruit nationally, that game having national implications will be good for the state and both schools. A rising tide lifts all boats. Just make sure our boat is higher. :-)

Our fan base continues to be so enamored with UVa. The fixation is hilarious. But yet go over to UVA website minimal discussion about VT . All about UVA ! Let's continue to build our brand and worry about our brand!!!

On multiple boards which hadn’t been many for the past many years but a few more these past few weeks, I think you’ll realize “enamored” isn’t quite the right word. UVa had a good team this year and just owning up to it but I also poked fun at their weak schedule. They were good twice in the last 20 years if that makes you feel any better

...chatter about VT. Each fan base is plenty aware of the other, and when the rival is relevant, there is chatter. VT hasn't been relevant in college football since Danny Coale caught the game-winning TD in the Sugar Bowl. UVa has rarely been relevant in football during my lifetime, and after one of their best-ever seasons and one of VT's worst-ever seasons, it makes sense that their fan base is focused on their own team. If James Franklin actually produces wins on the field, rest assured that UVa fans will start talking about VT again. But the wins need to come first.

goodness sakes that is part of the fun. I had a neighbor who was a UVA alum, he said every time I go to TSL you are talking about UVA. I said one because you only go when there is something going on between us and also when I go I can say the same thing, probably for the same reason.

Three SEC teams lost to lower seeded teams in the CFP. And Alabama just humiliated themselves on the grandest stage on God's creation. The loss was so bad even Paul Finebaum is forced to admit how far Bama has fallen. These are the games that matter, and the SEC is coming up small time.

They can win CFP games by saturating the field with all of their 9-win or better schools so that a school like Bama can get a win over another SEC school but call it a “CFP” win. NIL for those schools who have money (Miami, UVa, SMU) is proving to be a thorn in the SEC’s side. If Stanford and Duke really wanted to, they could be really good in football. Non-football schools like Indiana, UVa, Illinois and Vandy are testaments to this. I would put UNC in this category but I’ve never seen a school infuse more cash into coaches and land 4 and 5 star players over the past 30+ years only to have one really good season in 1997. I have hope that UNC will continue to fail.

Rabid fans, fans with football knowledge, interest for televised games, football first schools and tradition are all out the window now. I never thought I’d see the day where Indiana and Vandy would have the top guys for the Heisman and a school like SMU be relevant in a power conference so quickly. To a lesser extent…. a school like JMU (deserving or not) go from FCS to CFP in just 3 short years.

High student athletic fees that separates them from many other SBC and G5 schools. ODU has a similar setup and can’t help but notice they won 10 games this year.
