Big Ten discussing $2 billion private capital deal
The Big Ten is in discussions about a private capital deal that would infuse at least $2 billion into the league and its schools, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
The discussions include a 10-year extension of the league's grant of rights until 2046, sources told ESPN, which would ensure long-term stability in the Big Ten.
According to sources, the private capital deal and grant of rights extension have been discussed for months and presented in multiple forms. A deal and the grant of rights extension would also be a distinct blow to the outside entities attempting to form super leagues around college sports.
While there is support from nearly the entire league, according to sources, a few of the league's biggest brands -- including Ohio State and Michigan -- are still in discussions with the league. The aim is to have unanimous support before a vote, sources told ESPN.

1. What’s their endgame here? More professionalization? Better monetization of OOC games? A super league?
2. For whatever reason, the Big Ten will likely be the first conference to get private equity or private capital investment.
3. I’ve said this before, but I speculate that the GoR extension was likely a real reason the B12 paused its pursuit of private equity or private capital. If you have even a 1% chance of receiving a P2 invitation, you wouldn’t want to sign the GoR extension.

monopolistic practices, they should be able to go after and break up the P2 for their predatory practices as well. Something needs to be done because the damage these two are causing. I know people will say that the ACC and B12 are baked in with that pie; but truthfully we’re only reacting to what they’re doing to us.

he expects final deals for Spurtle and Tac Shavers that should net every ACC school at least 3 figures!! Phillips proudly stated " The absolute minimum for each member should be at least $ "tree fiddy" or a bit more.

the details and Thamel shows up with his typical clickbait effort, long on speculation and short on details. Dividing the pie will be a question along with further conference expansion and contraction processes. Finally, the B1G will need more depth of product as an investor would be foolish to pay for Ohio State and a group of midgets.

they think it’s cool to only think about themselves and to think about the good of the overall game is a weakness for losers and suckers. So yeah, as you said, they have ZERO interest in sharing anything, and they are beyond belief proud of it. Even if it is the total opposite of their words, they think it’s awesome to screw other people/schools as long as their on top and have the power to screw you!!!

for their own interests are not at the top of my complaints about the B1G. I think their product value is grossly overinflated relative to what they actually put on the field, the most recent two years not withstanding.
