is a look in for the CF Playoffs for '27 '28. that look in was put in for performance on the field, and any further realignment. if Clemson moves conferences "as an example", the new conference will get the credits from it's past playoff appearances, and national championships. The SEC "as an example" will not vote for a school if it waters down their playoff distributions, so of course, no one is moving now, for the 2026 season. They would have to land in the new conference in 2028 to take advantage of that look in. Pro rata AND playoff money are considerations. It isn't just the media deals. I don't know how the playoff committee determines how the playoff money is distributed, but I assure you, that if teams are added to the SEC or the BIG, it will be a consideration.

money is distributed to the different conferences is what the look in is for. It's not to get more money from ESPN, it's to divide up the pie differently if there are moves in the conferences or performance in the playoffs.

It's not as bad as the B1G adding Rutgers, but when it comes to underwhelming football resumes, UNC is on the list.

Clemson’s TV ratings are going to destroy everybody in the league. Even FSU will probably lag behind a good bit. When Clemson is making around $60M a year with a cakewalk to the playoff, that $100M+ exit fee isn’t going to look as good as it may have when they were making $40M a year in the ACC…

football schools. FSU and Clemson agreed to it, and the rest of the conference did as well. As stated in another post, it will have to pencil out.

for accuracy. I think you missed or misinterpreted several things, the most important of which is that beyond 2026 everything is still in negotiation.

format, number of teams in the playoffs, seedings, ... etc. What is not in negotiations, are the payouts for the length of the current contract UNTILL the look in that was negotiated into the current contact. They could decide to have auto's, got to 32 teams, or wherever they land. The distributions for the conferences are NOT currently being negotiated, but they WILL be in the negotiated look in.
