Updated view of school and alumni sizes for reference
As much as possible I dug into each school's enrollment to try and narrow it down to main campuses (and get rid of smaller campuses and remote students).
Also, take the alumni info lightly. Some of it was very hard to find. I'm sure some of it is reported across all types of students or maybe even for a university system across the whole state. Just a lot of inconsistency in the reporting (even seeing different numbers on a school site vs. their alumni site).
Image on left is sorted by current enrollment size. List on right is sorted by living alumni size.

I see that WF has a living alumni size of ~9X of their current students, UVA has 10.5X the number of current students, Northwestern has a living alumni size of 11.4X their current students, but VT has a living alumni size of only 7X the number of current students.
Question: are VT alumni dying off at a much higher rate than those other schools?

average man is about 5'9", 200lbs
average woman is about 5'3.5", 171lbs
They get smaller after they die though.

And I have no clue how some of them get to their numbers. Some wild variety definitely.

fairly steady growth for decades...if there's a spurt, we might be in it right now.

Georgia Institute of Technology-Main Campus had a total enrollment of 45,296 students in 2022. The full-time enrollment at Georgia Institute of Technology-Main Campus is 23,912 students and the part-time enrollment is 21,384.

I graduated 1988 and school was close to 20K. Go back to 1950s and it was just starting to transform from a military college.
In comparison, many of the BIG 10 universities were already the size of VT now. Much bigger core of living alumni at the BIG universities as a result. Difference should be getting smaller in future.

...get factors. Clearly some of these just do not make sense.
I started doing this when I saw both UVA and VT having the same number for living alumni, but VT has been significantly larger than UVA since long before I was a student.
