Do we have any Stanford, Cal, or SMU fans/posters on this board yet?
If so, would love to hear your voices/opinions today. Welcome to The ACC. VT BABY!!!

If they had fans then the B10 would have taken them.

Their loss, we’re getting them at Dollar Tree prices.

Actually, we're getting them at Prada prices, we're just putting it on our
Credit Card, and waiting a few years before we pay for it. But eventually the bill comes due, and you realize how much money you spent, and the interest will kill you. In the long run, none of these schools are going to increase our per school payout, and travel costs are going to add up. ** Edited by wwhokie1 at 9/1/2023, 3:38:45 PM

If the ACC doesn’t exist in 2030 they’ll be owed next to nothing.

That makes sense since they're Dollar Tree level programs.

Stanford is the #1 athletic program in the country. Also #1 academics.
And they were a Top15 football program just a few years ago, unlike our own football program. They also have a top-10 football recruiting class this year, and that was before this announcement. But sure, say Stanford is trash all you want. Hilarious. I remember about a month or two ago on this board when Oregon and Washington were trash too because “nobody wanted them”. That aged well.

If your argument includes academics and Olympic sports
then you've already lost. Or you're completely missing the point of expansion.

My argument also includes $72 million in new ESPN money…
…and the fact that it’s done. It’s a fact now. It’s real life. And it was done by parties on both sides that have a whole lot more knowledge and information on this topic than you and I. And your argument is basically “they suck”. We don’t even know the final financial details yet (what’s the $$ reward for winning the ACC?) Awesome debate.

Found an SMU message board talking about the ACC…
…they are beyond thrilled. That 24x7 site sucks though (have to pay for actual content). We are spoiled on this site, many teams don’t have free boards. ** Edited by Hardcore_Hokie at 9/1/2023, 12:48:36 PM

I've been checking out their boards the last couple weeks
Cal and Stanford are relieved to have a safe landing spot. SMU is thrilled to be back at the adults' table again

I honestly think SMU and Stanford football could be dangerous in 3-4 years

Agree. I can remember times long ago when each was very good.

Trick question - neither Cal nor Stanford have fans
They're highly ranked schools in the Bay Area. Their lack of fans is why no other conference wanted them and they were available to join the ACC s---show. ** Edited by Hokie 04 at 9/1/2023, 12:02:14 PM
