But I do believe the ACC has seen the handwriting on the wall of the separation of the "pro" division and there is nothing the ACC can do about it. So it is just grab as much money for the league as they can as long as they can. Then when there actually is something they can be proactive on they will have a nice little war chest to accomplish it.

It could be 15 years from now, but it will happen in some form. The ACC clearly wanted to wait longer but was forced to act now. Oh well, it's done. Now we just need WSU and ORST to get their final home so that the playoff changes can be discussed again.

creating no logical footprint is a poor strategy for survival, IMO. You will have to pay these schools full shares before you know it and go to the negotiating table with these anchors. Looking at B12 post their agreement would be a better strategy. WVU, Cincy, and going west some into Texas perhaps. But definitely not poor draws in Cali. Does it matter the ACC survives due to sheer numbers in the future? This isn’t the “ACC” at all. Who is fighting for that other than schools who feel lucky to be in it?

"New college division." For these 3 it is a short term situation to ride out the next several years. I also believe that the "new college division will break up the mega B12 into something like 8-12 team regional conferences. My guess as to what is out there today, of the now 18 teams, Clemson, FSU, Miami, ND and UNC are definitely in for the pro division. VT, NCSU and UVA and even possibly GT could be included. Stanford, Cal and SMU will be spun off into a west coach equivalent of the "new ACC" So Cuse, BC, PItt, Duke, Wake, Lville, and whatever of VT, NCSU,UVA and GT would have a couple of other maybe current G5 teams to it to form a regional conference reaching from Cuse to GT. Just a guess.

Is immaterial. It simply won’t matter to VT as the ACC won’t be the ACC it joined. It will find the best grouping of schools it can. These three new schools do nothing for me in terms of ACC stability. It actually does the opposite of that longterm if P2 continues on. B12 would swallow up any ACC properties worth having.
