Does FSU even have a place to go? While they really consider themselves
valuable, and certainly they are an elite program worthy of being in any conference, do they really have an invite in hand?
The SEC and B1G IMO should be tread very lightly here. Neither conference should want to see GOR's torn up. Sure, both would like to have FSU, but under what circumstances. Process matters. Let's say in a decade from now, while both P2s are in middle of a long term TV deal, the B1G starts to pull away from the SEC in terms of money and winning more than their share of CFPs. What if, say, Georgia decides "we can't compete". I assure you, the SEC won't want them having wandering eyes. Ditto in the opposite direction.
So if you look at it in this light, is FSU even worth it? The more I think about it, the more I think FSU has no real idea how to pull this off, and they are an entitled child having a tantrum.
Look, the money gap is REAL for ALL the ACC teams. But that's not the Big Ten's or SEC's problem. Nor am I certain they will want to get involved in it.

but without a PAC merger that ESPN pays substantially more money to the ACC, expect magnificent 7 or now some calling the Elite 8, the ACC is sinking and expect more to announce the same thing.
How much water comes in the boat before schools are more scared of missing the next boat and jump to it? I know some don’t want to see the PAC and now the ACC end, but you can’t ignore what is happening, because it’s happening so fast!!
The bottom line is ESPN and Fox don’t so far want to help the ACC and PAC, so like it or not (and I don’t like it) schools need to look for a new home, and the truth is at least the Elite 8 already has been looking. This past 7-10 days, that has become way more urgent.

They just have to agree that the added content can be bid on and they can even have first crack during the negotiations.
None of this works if Oregon and Washington go to the B1G but if the ACC could get those two plus Stanford as a part of 5-6 Pacific Northwest schools, there is a way to create enough valuable content utilizing the fanbases on each coast to add significant value. Enough to put the ACC firmly in between the P2 and Big XII.
FSU’s board stated numerous times that an extra $5-$6M didn’t help with a deficit of $30M. But…an extra $15M or so would. And I think with Stanford, Oregon and Washington as a core of a Pacific division inside a 20 team league on the ACC Network, the ACC can get to that valuation.

7-8 from the ACC won’t be paid or are paid less overall, maybe more if some go to the B1G. Same with the PAC, they will only be paying them if they go to an ESPN league. Since two and probably more are going to the B1G, it’s a similar thing. It saves them money.

...VT's travel expenses go up while VT's individual payout goes down. We would be financially worse off than being in the ACC.
The only way to improve our situation is to land in a P2 conference. Don't see that happening...yet.

by claiming their lawyers told them to wait for several defections to the Big XII, I seriously doubt they want to be seen messing around with FSU before the divorce is final.
And I think for the SEC, the longer FSU has to wait, the better. I don't even think they really want FSU. But they don't want the B1G slithering into the South for big time southern football programs. Just one man's opinion.
