Instead of posturing to raid each other, BY and JP ought to work together
I have two ideas, one near term, one outlandish…
River Water Cup - have standing tournaments between the four schools bordering the Ohio River - Louisville, Cincinnati, WVU, and Pittsburgh. That would help with travel cost, as well as add fan interest and media attention. There would also be something like a Director’s Cup at the end of the season based on composite standings to sustain interest in all competing sports.
War Weekend - Eight football games involving the two conferences over three days, including ND and one stand in or two stand ins for the ACC. It would have to be over the Labor Day Weekend. NFL domed stadiums would compete to host it, with numerous satellite parking areas and shuttles. The opponents would be determined by the preseason coaches poll and slotting of the stand ins as agreed to by both conferences done months ahead of time. Fans of one school would have ticket discounts to attend other games, so you could stick around to pull for your conference mates. Of course, the media and pro scouts would be all over this event.

He wouldn’t want to kill off something that helps him gain money and exposure.

sports. They would be forced to play OOC games against each other, or G5 schools. Do that in basketball, and bring on the Big East to the "alliance", and their basketball teams would have to do the same thing.
I'd think I'd be OK with that.

would be at issue. Presumably, they would follow current policy for inter league play. War Weekend could be split domestic revenue down the middle. They could also entertain simulcasting the biggest games from opposing sides. Beyond the games themselves is the opportunity for event driven bonus content to think about too.

Not everyone that wants to enjoy a bowl type experience is able to travel at Christmas time.
