...other athletic facilities. That gives them an advantage over VA, where schools raise the money for facilities.

I'm not sure if there is enough support in Richmond to change VA's policy. It would definitely be an interesting and spirited debate if it was every brought to the floor. Personally, I'm undecided on this issue because I do see both sides and I think both sides raise valid points/concerns.

Feel like I already pay more than enough. Heck, just look at the punitive automobile property tax. Would love for that to be reduced significantly. Heck, I would probably buy a new car every 2-3 years if it was at a reasonable level of taxation.

to fund collegiate athletic capital projects. On the flip side, those states are at a disadvantage to the states that allow it because it frees up money to be used for other things (i.e. support staff, luxury items, etc.).

The Virginia Model is better. These teams need to build and own their own stadiums including the schools.

I wasn't far from Bal Harbour either. 2002 to 2010. Now back in Richmond.
They put a line item on Real Estate Taxes for Marlins Stadium. I wasn't consulted. So I prefer Virginia's approach.

It really keeps the wall between the University and development of athletics. Development of an athletic program is a (non-appropriated) auxiliary function of a university. No matter if its UVA VT ODU or whatever, we dont see the craziness like some schools get... and that is good....
