since 2004 (Miami, BC, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Stanford and SMU), 1 private-public in Pitt and 2 public universities (Tech and Louisville). Virginia Tech is the only true traditional large state university that the ACC has added. Meanwhile, the Big Ten and SEC have expanded with all large state universities except for USC. I'm disappointed that Tech is in favor of adding Calford and SMU but Tim Sands is a proud Cal guy and San Francisco native and has influenced the BOV to support the Calford expansion. I know some on here have "corrected" me that the BOV makes the decision but every article and podcast I've read or listened to has only mentioned the ACC presidents. I'm sure the folks at Cal have put some pressure on Sands since he got all three of his degrees from Berkeley.
