They wouldn’t go to the Big 12. Given Swarbrick’s comments about them

I’m starting to wonder if it’s a bit of subterfuge here to give ND their bullet points for when they eventually leave the conference. I’ve always felt Stanford should have been a lock for the Big Ten, specifically given the need for a fleshed out West Coast division and then also the relationship with Notre Dame. This continues to set the stage for that. The Notre Dame posters here have given all the information regarding why ND wants their independence. But ND also knows where this is headed. Everybody outside the P2 is getting squeezed here and it’s eventually going to limit ND’s access to the playoff as well as their ability to secure competitive media rights to keep up with the P2. ** Edited by hokieZ71 at 8/11/2023, 6:35:43 PM

So the ACC voted down Stanford and Cal. i wonder if the networks

They did not vote it down. They have held off the vote for now. Different**

They didn't take the official vote, because they don't have the votes,
Big12 guy 08/11/23 09:18 PM ET
Still not a down vote or a vote at all.**

FSU, Clemson, UNC, and NCSt = NO; ND, Pitt, GT, LOU strongest supporters.

ND should not have a vote in a basic football question.**

Well, UNC & Duke effectively got us in the ACC in 2003.
Atlee Hokie 08/12/23 10:59 AM ET
Reminds me of Syracuse/Pitt voting against expanding Big East FC in 2011
HOO86 08/12/23 10:48 AM ET
Didn't UNC seek to keep us out? They don't like change.**

Sue Estroff will not be associated with the likes of Stanford! TIC**
MP4VT2004 08/12/23 12:15 AM ET
IIRC, they didn't want any expansion, period.
Maroon Baboon 08/11/23 09:23 PM ET
Or maybe those 4 know they are
hokie77th 08/11/23 07:56 PM ET
Very disappointing that we weren't one of the definite nos.

I think I'd take SMU oil money over Stanford academic prestige right now 😆
Maroon Baboon 08/11/23 07:57 PM ET
I'd much prefer SMU over Stanford. I'd also much prefer OSU-nw & Wazzou ..
Atlee Hokie 08/12/23 11:02 AM ET
I don't think SMU would be a joke in the ACC as Rutgers is in the B1G.
Maroon Baboon 08/12/23 11:06 AM ET
Nor do I. How good they would be, I don't know, but ...
Atlee Hokie 08/12/23 04:52 PM ET
If ACC won't take them, then it's either going to be MW or AAC.

hokieZ71 08/11/23 06:34 PM ET
I don't think the big 10 ever wanted to go that far west, but felt pushed
wwhokie1 08/11/23 07:31 PM ET
Or??? Maybe the big 10 is sly like a fox and gets Cal and Stanford for even
cricket77 08/11/23 08:24 PM ET
Completely disagree. B1G has to combat the Midwest population decline
hokieZ71 08/11/23 07:39 PM ET
I don’t think so. - IMO - B12 keeping
Hokie12thman 08/11/23 06:26 PM ET
Big 12 is going to be too big **
HokiesACC2004 08/12/23 03:44 AM ET
I hope this is the reason, but i don't have much faith. None of this
