I would imagine......

IF ND saw a path for that to benefit them they would consider it. However, they probably think it not wise to choose any side as yet, run the risk of angering potential future partners or opponents and put their focus on what can extend their survival as an independent, namely the renewal of their NBC contract at a satisfactory amount. I would imagine they are already somewhat wary as NBC' s deal with the BIG, while clearly being first and foremost about money, might yield a fortunate by product to indirectly influence NBC/ND deliberations on the contract renewal.
