It's too bad they don't consider a partial merger of just football only
Keep the PAC alive as a conference for everything except football. And then bring over all the PAC schools for football with the ACC. Basically the opposite of what ND has with us.
Boost up the football contracts. Build in some "OOC" games for basketball with the PAC and ACC schools. And keep the PAC together for the non-rev sports that should be staying local (for student athlete benefit and cost benefit). With the ultimate benefit that the PAC gets to live on as a conference of champions while the schools get to find a more stable and profitable football home (and possibly allow the ACC to open up the media contract with ESPN for more money).
