Long overdue or not,

not gonna happen. Employing athletes is just too incongruent with a university mission. I'm sure some will read that and think "athletics is already incongruent with university missions." Maybe true, but to literally employ an athlete crosses a line that I think universities just won't do. Never mind the mess that would ensue with Title IX and other issues if somehow that line got crossed. Maybe there's some sort of contrived "revenue sharing" solution that looks like pay for play and achieves a similar end but isn't actually employment, but I don't think there's any way we see employment contracts with universities to play ball.

P2 paying players: "End of an era" or "long over due"?

Long but accurate. The collegiate model is outdated. NFL needs to step

What incentive does the NFL have to step in to help fix this mess? Right
VTHokie2000 07/23/22 07:04 PM ET
If anything, we should be following a Premier League/EFL model, not the NFL

If the promotion/relegation is done so a team plays every other team home
VTHokie2000 07/23/22 07:52 PM ET
That's fine if you can play 38 games like the PL.
Maroon Baboon 07/23/22 08:22 PM ET
Toughness of a schedule isn't a factor though. Under your scenario 2-year
VTHokie2000 07/23/22 08:44 PM ET
I wouldn't do it every two years because it would be less intrigue.

I can pretty much guarantee you that the school will want assurances from
VTHokie2000 07/24/22 09:56 AM ET
There would be any need to have OOC games with this model.

Bottom line is a very small % ever make a living as athletes.

Title IX may be in trouble if some of these new proposed guidelines & rules

Title IX might "be in trouble"?

Agree with your overall take. But with P2 disbursements of 100 mil plus
HboroughHokie 07/22/22 07:15 PM ET
I don't know about that 200 mill. I think we are fast approaching a day of
