You would think so, but the Big Ten decided to put all of its eggs in
the 5+1 basketball which may have set the tone for the rest of the group. I'm not saying that the Big Ten was necessarily right or wrong to do that or that the Alliance was right or wrong to take its position. It just makes it difficult to compromise if you provide no room to the other party involved in the negotiations.
