The Big Ten

I've said it many times it's the Big Ten that really wants multiple auto bids, and I've questioned whether they'd actually accept a simple 5-11 format. It turns out they vetoed the 5-11 proposal even though it would definitely give them more money than the current setup. Time and time again, the Big Ten shows it can walk away from the immediate money grab for potentially better future positioning. They blocked the original CFP expansion to 12 and are now blocking an expansion to 16. You could view the Big Ten as either irrational or very strategic, depending on your perspective. But I suspect they're concerned that a 16-team model would benefit the SEC way too much. What's their next move then? I think the Big Ten will continue to push for multiple auto bids. Unless multi-auto bids are completely a non-starter, the Big Ten won't fold.
