UNC to B1G would actually be good for VT in a roundabout way if the goal is

to get into the P2. Let's say that we go along with the status quo thinking of realignment forecasters for just one moment. UNC is highly coveted by the SEC, but let's say the SEC loses out on them to the B1G. UVa would probably go along with UNC to the B1G then. This would probably increase the likelihood that the SEC would come calling for VT. As the B1G becomes more national, the SEC will at least feel the pressure to grow its footprint. Also, now that the SEC has been shutout of the last three CFP finals, they might just feel the need to reinforce their football chops. And VT might very well be the best football candidate outside the P2 and the current SEC footprint. All that being said, I think UVa wants to save the ACC, and I think VT will go along with that. Perhaps this is a lost cause, but nevertheless, it might be true. ** Edited by Maroon Baboon at 1/25/2026, 12:36:58 PM
