Stanford, Cal weighing options as ACC ponders western expansion
“ Sports writer John Canzano cited sources as saying that the ACC will “either decide to invite both Stanford/Cal or take neither school.” He gave it 50/50 odds based on sources he has talked to. A source said that the ACC “had some initial conversations” with Oregon State, but neither the Beavers nor Washington State are “currently considered in play.” If Stanford and Cal are invited, OSU and WSU are expected to “immediately seek membership in the Mountain West Conference” or “help create a ‘Pacific Division’“ of the AAC, depending on which “offers a better short-term landing spot.”
