Even though the football program was a dumpster fire during that period of

time, the ADs still had success with fundraising, expansion of facilities, and even the consolidation of the men's and women's athletic programs. Fulmer is probably the only the AD in the group that was truly a failure and most Vols fans would agree he was never qualified for the position. His ego and influence led to John Currie being pushed out over bogus reasons because he wanted the job. FWIW Currie seems to be doing just fine at Wake and it is likely he would have had similar success if he had been allowed to remain at Tennessee.
