While they may.......

be more attuned now given all the upheaval in college athletics, for the longest time the knowledge of most university Presidents in regards to athletics was limited to what conference commissioners, ADs and their most ardent boosters told them. That drove early conference realignment much more than academics. The PAC problem was they employed one commissioner that was a crook and the next time around they thought their knowledge and that of some of their business and economic profs was better than the supposed industry expert they hired. They were a portrait of dumb smart people.
