Stop blaming the conferences, the schools, the AD's, the media, and

everyone else that comes into view. This is all a consequence of Ed O'Bannon's lawsuit against UCLA for not paying him while he was on the Bruins' swim team. The court declared that the NCAA had no right to suppress his earning of money just because he was a college student. That made it necessary for NCAA schools to find a realistic way to comply with the judgement without also committing anti-trust behaviors. It's an impossible tightrope. It is akin to a Hollywood screenwriter (the Judge) writing' "Ten thousand soldiers charged down the hill on horseback."
