FWIW I have not seen any reports where the NCAA committee has denied a

waiver to 2 teams interested in playing a Week 0 game. So far, I have not found anything in any of the 3 NCAA bylaw manuals that properly identifies the criteria the NCAA committees use to approve/reject the waiver. All I am suggesting is that majority of the schools are reluctant to move up the start date of the regular season due to the liability issue because no school wants to deal with the death of a football player due to heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Right now, the number of heat related deaths is relatively very low. If more teams practice in July and the number goes up, then perceptually what impact will that have on the sport going forward? ** Edited by VTHokie2000 at 12/29/2025, 1:44:21 PM

Teams need a waiver to play Week 0 games regardless of which division level

Agree need rules change, hypocritical to say it's okay for some & not all.

I think the whole season and offseason needs to shift. No spring football

Maybe so, but I doubt schools are willing to take on the liability issue

They can still do play-in games even if they don't junk the CCGs.
