I am aware.....

of maintaining plausible deniability and the need for backchannel communications. I am also aware that things publicly apparent are not necessarily how it occurs in private. The B1G maintains they were contacted by the schools. There is a better than even money chance FOX was the go between and the initial inquiries were at best mutual. Reports are USC was the focus and there was no initial demand for #2. In fact, given actions by Carol Folt and USC it is likely they were only looking out for themselves. If it were to ever be fully disclosed, I would wager that FOX ran the numbers for several #2s and drove the call for UCLA. You also have to believe the numbers made a strong case because the potential headaches of dealing with California politicians and the UCal system would likely favor Oregon or Washington, two better football programs, given that SC delivers the LA market.
