Networks have clout, but they don't have the power you think they have-

at least not over certain things. Disney, FOX, CBS, and NBC don't have votes on the CFP format. They have no say on a lot of things. They cut big checks to put certain football games on TV. If the media conglomerates had as much power as you think they do, we wouldn't even have these conferences, or any of these problems. There would already be an NFL-style super league, with a full NFL-style playoff and College Super Bowl at the end.
