We got n the Big East 🏈 n th early nineties, we started going to Bowls too

This is a chicken or the egg argument that is based on opinion. Your opinion is it had nothing to do with football, mine is that it did because there are decades of correlation between the two. I also have the experience of a student that missed one SAT Math question telling me he chose Virginia Tech because of the football game experience. I know another that earned a 3.8 double majoring in chemistry and biology, his Mom went to UVA and Dad went to Tech, he choose to go to Tech because of the football game experience. I know another that had 1550 on the SAT’s and his Dad earned his MBA from UVA, same thing told he went to Tech to experience the football game atmosphere. Yes the Academics have improved at Virginia Tech, but all three of them could have gone to higher ranked schools, but chose Virginia Tech in the end because of the football game atmosphere. I’m not saying it’s all football, but you should not be saying football had nothing to do with it, for many students, it had a lot to do with it. In these three cases they have personally thanked me for encouraging them to check Virginia Tech out, and yes go to a football game. PS All three of them by the way are now in their 30’s and have done remarkable things. ** Edited by Stech at 4/28/2025, 8:33:11 AM
