i think Josh and others are overlooking the precedent to date

TX/OU are the only ones to leave with a GOR in place. To get them out ONE year early, ESPN agreed to pro-rata for 4 G5 adds and a $100 million payment ($50 million per ea.) to the Big 12. Thus far ESPN has agreed to pro-rata for the three adds for the ACC. But there would still be a decade left on the contract to buy out. Applying the Big 12 resolution model to the ACC and adding exit fees (and the 4.5% annual increase that's in the current contract) would be what $1.0 - $1.5 billion? So does facilitating a FSU/CU exit get them that...for teams they already have under contract? Or if instead, FOX decides to try to facilitate the whole deal, can they make up for the cost? I think the only way this works out with FSU, Clemson et al moving for anything remotely affordable is if a network offers a new TV contract to the ACC that gets key conference members what they want and/or keeps the remainder as happy as the Big 12 teams. ** Edited by daveinop at 7/1/2024, 7:11:33 PM
