The meeting was in the works for weeks but only recently scheduled.

I get the impression that FSU schedules and announces their board meeting weeks and/or months in advance, but this one was different in that it was only announced a few days ago causing people to speculate that it may be about conference realignment. Also, people have been reporting that August 15th is a deadline date to withdraw from the conference and the timing of this meeting is again causing people to speculate. It will probably be nothing.
